SUMMARY

Councillors, Clerks, staff and volunteers should be made aware that the law is changing. Your council should ensure they understand GDPR and what your policies and procedures are to help them apply data protection legislation to their work.

Remember - the Data Protection Act has been in place for some time. You should be complying with this in relation to the handling of personal data. These new regulations are introducing, for example, additional rights for individuals.
